NATIONAL CONFERENCE/WORKSHOP ON ACCEPTABLE SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND CAMPUS SAFETY 2016

It is no gainsaying the fact that current happenings in our educational institutions call for the inculcation of good character in their human outputs. Cursory analyses of the trends in social behaviours in the society and on the campuses testify to the fact that some of their outputs do not reflect true worthiness in character. Thus, it is imperative to give them proper character orientation in order to reduce the incidence of social ills on our campuses. Such development led to the establishment of the University of Ibadan, Centre for Social Orientation.

The Centre has the under-listed units:

· Anti-Cultism Campaign

· Research and Intelligence

· Ombudsman and Ethics

· Education and Public Enlightenment

Some of the Objectives of the Centre include:

· To carry out the crusade against cultism and cultic activities

· To orientate the entire community towards imbibing good social behaviours and good character

· To ensure that causes of disharmony among staff, management and students are identified and resolved amicably in order to foster cordial relationships

· To sensitize students on the need to stay away from anti-social behaviours

In further pursuit of the Centre’s mandate of ridding the University of Ibadan in particular and the Nigerian society at large of anti-social behaviours in all its ramifications, a National Conference/Workshop on Acceptable Social Behaviour and Campus Safety will hold at the Conference Centre, U.I. Hotels, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, from Tuesday, 29 to Thursday, 31 March, 2016, where all stakeholders from all the tertiary institutions in the nation will converge to brainstorm, share ideas and chart a new course in this onerous task of making our society a better place and a haven of peace for all.

Please, let us know as soon as possible, how many persons you intend to sponsor to this Conference.

Also, find attached a copy of the First Announcement of the Conference.

It is our hope that, at the end of the Conference, participants would have been better equipped as vanguards of positive social change.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. A. O. U. Onuka
